Celebration of the 2005 International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day in Czech Republic

The 20th day of March 2005  was celebrated as the International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day  again.. ASSITEJ has reminded again the right of children and young people to leisure and their rights to artistic and cultural enrichment, particularly by means of theatre.

For the fifth  time It was celebrated and reminded all over the world by special events: festivals, shows, celebrations, extraordinary performances, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.

The author of the official proclamation regarding this year’s World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People  was the well-known German playwright Volker Ludwig,  letter was send also by  the  ASSITEJ International President Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schneider from Germany.

Based on the call of the Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre the celebration of the 2005 International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day was participated in the Czech Republic by a total of  7 culture centres, 45 ensembles, which gave 80 performances in 20 cities throughout the country.

The Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre, the Tydlidum Society and the Club Mlejn organized a special three-day event – The Festival for celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People held in the Theatre at Celetná and the Club Mlejn  from  19th March to 22nd March 2005 . The programm included a total of 16 performances and was composed of selected representatives from professional theatres, theatre agency groups, amateur theatres for children and theatre for children performed by children (Divadlo Polárka Brno, Divadlo Minor, Divadlo Rokoko, Divadlo Neslyším z Brna, Divadlo Bořivoj Praha, Divadlo Dagmar Karlovy Vary, Buchty a loutky, Janáčkova konzervatoř Ostrava, HROBESO, DS Tyl Rakovník, Divadlo T.E.J.P., Divadlo Kordula, ZUŠ Děčín, ZUŠ HlučínTheatre Theatre at Dlouhá, Theatre Dagmar Karlovy Vary, Studio dell´arte České Budějovice, Theatre VYSMÁTO Prague, Ensemble HOP-HOP Art School ZUŠ Ostrov nad Ohří, Art School ZUŠ Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Art School ZUŠ Uherské Hradiště, Emanuel Frynta and Five Mice from Ty-já-tr Prague, ToDivadlo Nový Jičín).
