World Day 2007

Celebration of the 2007 International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day

20 March 2007 was celebrated woldwide for the seventh time as the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People.

The author of the official proclamation regarding this year’s World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People was  prof. Penina Mlama from  Tanzania

The Czech ASSITEJ Centre (the main organizer of the celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People in the Czech Republic) called on all the theatres of the Czech Republic, independent ensembles, community and cultural centres, houses, facilities, etc. to present on that day performances intended for children or young audience (if they have such works in their repertoire) and to celebrate jointly this international theatre holiday by reminding the significance of quality works. The celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People was participated by a total of: 50 ensembles from 16 cities with a total of 73 performances.

The Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre and the Club Mlejn organized a special four-day event – The Festival for celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People held in the Theatre at Celetná and the Club Mlejn on 18-22 March 2007. The programme included a total of 14 performances and was composed of selected representatives from professional theatres, theatre agency groups, amateur theatres for children and theatre for children performed by children.

The Festival was visited by more than 2 000 children.
