World Day 2012
Celebration of the 2012 Theatre for Children and Young People World Day
The 20th day of March 2012 was celebrated as the International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day again. ASSITEJ has reminded again the right of children and young people to leisure and their rights to artistic and cultural enrichment, particularly by means of theatre.
For the twelfth time It was celebrated and reminded all over the world by special events: festivals, shows, celebrations, extraordinary performances, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc., this year under the motto „Take a child to the theatre toady”.
The author of the official proclamation regarding this year’s World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People was Canadian playwright Mrs.Suzanne Lebeau.
The Institut of Arts – Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre, Association for Theatre for children and youth, Association for creative drama and the Club Mlejn organized a special event – The Festival for celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People held in the Theatre at Celetná and the Club Mlejn from 18th March to 22nd March 2012 . The programm included a total of 13 performances and was composed of selected representatives from professional theatres, theatre agency groups, amateur theatres for children and theatre for children performed by children.
In the festival took part: Theatre Športniki (Back to Bullerbyn), Naive Theatre Liberec (Neklan), Cakes and Puppets (Zlatá husa), Céčko (Pták Ohnivák, liška Ryška a my), Tři boty ZŠ a MŠ Třebotov, ZUŠ Chlumec nad Cidlinou, Roztočená vrtule from Slaný, Malé dvě from ZUŠ F. A. Šporka in Jaroměř, Divadlo Dagmar (Kytice), Jamu Brno (Veselá abeceda), Cirkus Mlejn and – Long vehicle Circus and MagdaClanfrom Italy as forein guests.
MUDr. Karel Šefrna became the recipient of the Czech Center ASSITEJ Award 2012.
