Czech Assitej Centre

International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People – Association Internationale du Theatre pour l’Enfance et la Jeunesse was established in 1965.

The Czechoslovak organization was a member as of its inception. After the independent Czech Republic was established, the Czech centre was registered.

The aim of the organization is to promote the development of the theatre for children and young people by an exchange of experience, by organizing study tours for groups as well as individuals, and by presenting all activities and projects which would benefit the theatre for children and young people. The association is open to all parties interested in the sphere of theatrical work for children and young people, regardless of nationality, origin, race or political affiliation of countries.

The governing body of ASSITEJ is the Congress, held every two years. The organization is directed by a 21 member executive, which elects a managing body from its midst consisting of a chairman of the organization, 3 vice-chairmen, a treasurer and a secretary general.

The activity of the Czech ASSITEJ centre is provided by the committee of the centre which consists of : Luděk Horký (chairman), Dagmar Bednáriková, Tomáš Jarkovský, Barbora Látalová, Zoja Mikotová, Natálie Preslová, Ludmila Macáková Razimová, Tereza Sochová, Hana Strejčková, Karola Štěpánová, Zuzana Sikačová
