Celebration of the 2009 Theatre for Children and Young People World Day
The 20th day of March 2009 was celebrated as the International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day again. ASSITEJ has reminded again the right of children and young people to leisure and their rights to artistic and cultural enrichment, particularly by means of theatre.
For the nineth time It was celebrated and reminded all over the world by special events: festivals, shows, celebrations, extraordinary performances, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.
Based on the call of the Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre the celebration of the 2009 International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day was participated in the Czech Republic by a total of 7 culture centres, 45 ensembles, which gave 80 performances in 20 cities throughout the country.
The Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre, Association for creative drama and the Club Mlejn organized a special five-day event – The Festival for celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People held in the Theatre at Celetná and the Club Mlejn from 18th March to 22nd March 2009 . The programm included a total of 14 performances and was composed of selected representatives from professional theatres, theatre agency groups, amateur theatres for children and theatre for children performed by children (Divadlo A. Dvořáka from Příbram, Ty-já-tr, Janáček´s Academy Ostrava, Divadlo bez hranic, Charmsovy bublinky from ZUŠ Žerotín Olomouc, Studio dell´arte from České Budějovice, Naive Theatre Liberec, Listování, Petr Nikl, Kašpar, CD 2002, Veselé skoky, Teátr Víti Marčíka).
Petr Nikl a well-rounded Czech artist – painter, musician, writer, theater artist and photographerbecame the recipient of the Czech Center ASSITEJ Award 2008.
