World Day 2011

Celebration of the 2011 Theatre for Children and Young People World Day

The 20th day of March 2011  was celebrated as the International Theatre for Children and Young People World Day  again.  ASSITEJ has reminded again the right of children and young people to leisure and their rights to artistic and cultural enrichment, particularly by means of theatre.

It was celebrated and reminded all over the world by special events: festivals, shows, celebrations, extraordinary performances, seminars, conferences, workshops, etc.

For the eleventh  time the Theatre Institute/the Czech ASSITEJ Centre, Association for creative drama, Association for Theatre for children and youth and the Club Mlejn organized a special event – The Festival for celebration of the World Day of Theatre for Children and Young People held in the Theatre at Celetná and the Club Mlejn  from  20th March to 23th March 2011 . The programm included a total of 15 performances and was composed of selected representatives from professional theatres, theatre agency groups, amateur theatres for children and theatre for children performed by children (Décalages, Tate iyumni and Xaver from Prague, Střípek from Plzeň, Divadla Dagmar from Karlovy Vary, Divadlo Dostavník from Přerov, Divadlo Tramtarie from Olomouce, Divadla Drak from Hradec Králové a  Hladka Vrtule from 3. ZŠ Slaný.  As foreign guest took part ansemble  Red the NosePaper  from Sweden.

The top program festival was common project of Czech, Polish, and Slovak artists called Jánošík, Janosik, Jánošík, inspired by the Slovak outlaw Juraj Jánošík (Teatr Lalka Warszawa, Staré divadlo Karola Spišáka Nitra a Divadlo Drak z Hradce Králové) performed in KD Mlejn, 23rd March 2011).
